What do we do? Troop 177 is an active Boy-Led Troop. The youth determine our schedule and the events they want to participate in. To see some of the things we have done, click on the year tabs or the Camping tab at the top of this page.

Effective June 1, 2010: - Youth Protection Training is required for ALL registered volunteers. - New leaders are required to take Youth Protection Training before they submit their application for registration. - Youth Protection Training must be taken every two years. AUGUST 20-22... Our August event was a combonation of many of our favorite things. We had a Summer Game night! We learned all about our new tents (including setting them up) Everyone had a great time!
Our Troop was invited to lead the Pledge of Allegiance opening the County Freehloder’s meeting on Thursday August 19th. The boys did a great job!

Happy Birthday BSA!!! The 2010 National Scout Jamboree was INCREDABLE! | | Several people from our Troop participated in the Jamboree this year. We had boys in the Council Contingent, an adult on staff, and several others who made day visits. The Jamboree was a terrific oppertunity for all of us to celibrate the Scouting spirit and the birthday of the movement in the US. Those who had the oppertunity to go met many new friends from arround the country and the globe. They experienced many new things and will take with them memories that will last a lifetime. | Did you miss the Jamboree, but want to see the Show? Click here to view the show... |

Summer Camp 2010... Camp Somers at the Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation,Stanhope, NJ |
(Click on the logo for more camp info) | | The Lake and Aquatics (including the giant climbing "Iceburg" | | Opening Campfire | | Monday Colors | | ATV Program! Camp Somers is one of only three camps in the country running a pilot program on ATV operation. Seven of our boys were the first at this camp to take the program. When they arrived on Sunday, they learned proper safety and operation. On Monday evening they took a trail ride for several hours! More later this week! | | Eric represented our Troop in the Camp's Firewatch program. He was taken across the lake to a site where scouts from each troop in camp shared stories and heard history from the camp staff and each other. In the morning they rowed across the lake to rejoin the troop for breakfast. Eric shared our troop's campfire ashes with the other scouts. | Wednesday morning our Troop supplied the color guard for the camp. We aere also honored to fly our Troop flag all day over the parade grounds. | Boys enjoying a meal. | Brandon, Alex, and Robert took COPE this week. Here they are on the high course. | | Somone finaly saw the local bear today. Billy saw it near our site and a Staff member chased it back into the woods.
So far the bugs have been more anoying than the bear :)

Rafting the Lehigh River! |

| On our June trip We rafted the Lehigh River near Jim Thorpe, PA. We tent camped at Hickory Run State park. The Rafting was great! The riverguides at Pocono Whitewater were excelent! they taught us proper safety for rafting and made sure each raft had a good time! The State Park was beautiful. The wildlife at the camp was spectacular (especialy the fawn that visited our campsite at breakfast). Everyone agreed we need to do this again! |
Flag Retirement at American Legion Post 281 Scouts and Cubs from our Troop and Pack participated in the Flag retirement at American Legion Post 281. |  | | | As Americans the flag of our nation holds a special place of honor and respect. As Scouts we take an oath to "do our duty to God and our Country". This includes learning and demonstrating proper respect for this emblem. TYLT - Troop Youth Leadership Training Sunday June 6th, our new youth leaders recieved training in their positions. SPL, ASPL, and PLs learned about their roles We discussed topics like The mission vision and values of Scouting, teamwork, organization, conflict resolution, and inclusivness. These will provide our youth leaders with the tools they need to be successful leaders. |
| | OUR NEW TENTS ARE HERE!!! | | We just recieved the shipment of 8 new Timberline 4 tents! These are 4 man 3+ season tents that should serve out Troop for a long time. We will train everyone on the new tents and other new equipment at our August Extravaganza! |
Memorial Day Our Scouts marched in the Veteran's Park Parade and memorial ceremony to honor those who gave all in service to our country. We also provided a Color Guard for Mass at Our Lady of Hope Parish erlier in the day.
Sunset Parade at the Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May: Our Troop participated in the May 30th Sunset Parade at the Coast Guard Training Center in Cape May. Sunset Parades are colorful, inspiring military ceremonies featuring the Recruit Band, Drill Team, marching troops, cannon fire, and a low level fly over by a CG helicopter. We will also had a tour of the Training Center and TRACEN company commanders gave us a mini-boot camp training session that will included military drill. We finished the day marching with other Scouts and Cubs in the Sunset parade. It was a great day! Thank You to all of the men and women who are serving or have served this country we all love.   Our lady of Hope First Annual Festival Thanks to all Scouts Who helped with the trash collection during the festival, and all the Scouts and families who helped with the pick-up on Sunday! Great Job!!!
The Ice Cream Social Was A Big Success! Thank You! What a terrific night!!! The Annual Troop 177 Ice Cream Social & Silent Auction was an incredible event! We had the biggest turnout ever! Thanks to all who helped! special thanks to Mrs. Louie and Mrs. Skelly!
French Creek State Park, PA April 16-18 - We went tent camping in French Creek State Park (PA). We arrived to a rainy set-up on Friday. Saturday was dry but the weather shifted back and forth between sunny & warm and windy & grey. We took a great hike arround Scott's Run Lake. Some boys went fishing (no luck)and some played catch. We all setteled in to a great dinner and an excellent campfire.
Easter Vigil Fire... Scouts stand by as the procession approches... Thank You to all who helped to make the Easter Vigil fire a great success! As is our tradition, Our Troop will started and tended the Easter Vigil fire at St Agnes. Boy Scouts, Venture Scouts (Crew 177) and parents gathered wood, tended and extinguished the Easter fire. They also helped assemble stools for Holy Thursday mass.
Resica Falls Rocked! March 26-28 Camping in the Unami Lodge at Ressica Falls was one of the best trips yet. We went Hiking, playing football, shot on the rifle range, had a campfire, and played jailbreak!
Saturday March 20th - In preparation for Easter, members and family of Troop 177 and Crew 177 helped clean-up arround the grounds of our Charter Organiztion, St Agnes Church. Many thanks to all who participated!
A SCOUT IS REVERENT … Sunday March 7th - St Agnes Church (our Charter Organiztion) hosted The Scout Sunday Mass for all Camden Diocese Cubs, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts & Venture crews. Thanks to those who attended and those who served.
Winter Court of Honor Congratulations to all of the Scouts who recieved Ranks and Awards at our Court of Honor! Thank you Mrs. Donnolley for your years of service! Mr. Brandis presents a plaque and expresses our Gratitude! Happy 18th Birthday Joe! Joe recieves a small momento from Mr. Skelly. See you at the Crew meetings!  Game Night! We will had our annual Game Night on February 13th! Everyone had a great time (but not much sleep)!
Scouts Dig out an Elderly Resident... Tuesday the Mayor's office called and asked if our Scouts could assist an elderly resident who needed help digging out after the last 2 storms. Four of our Scouts volunteered and spent part of their snow day doing the "Good Turn".

Cabin-camping at Ockanickon Scout Reservation. We stayed in the Ecology lodge, practiced Scout skills, took a hike to the creek, and some of us gathered for a campfire (it was a bit cold that night ) Golucester Township Mayoral swearing in Members of Troop and Crew 177 joined Troops 811 and 184 to represent the Scouts of Golucester Township at Reorganization meeting and Mayoral swearing in on January 2 at Timber Creek High School. (Also present were the Girl Scouts, Brownies, Police, Fire Departments, and American Legion).
